Miniman Radio Co.

Inductive tuning. Parallel resistor to crystal phone! Crystal receiver with crystal phones

The performance of this set is poor because no ground connection. You have to hold the radio in hand during reception (hand-ground capacity).

You can increase the sensitivity, when you wind approx. 20 turns of wire on the outside of rocket body, so you avoid prying open your set. Connect one end with antenna and other end with ground. Don´t use anymore the original antenna. Now you don´t have to keep the set in your hand while receiving. You can also do so with the modern version of this set.

1958,
Japan

IV

Except ground connection, using one of my solid isolated tuning caps # 4. No parallel resistor to crystal phone! Crystal receiver with crystal phones

The performance of this set is poor because no ground connection. You have to hold the radio in hand during reception (hand-ground capacity).

You can increase the sensitivity, when you wind approx. 30 turns of wire on the outside of rocket body sides (not around top and back side), so you avoid prying open your set. Connect one end with antenna and other end with ground. Don´t use anymore the original antenna. Now you don´t have to keep the set in your hand while receiving.

Most components of this set are not soldered in. You can remove most components, a good idea for experiments. An option of this set is the use as an wave trap for other radio sets of xtal sets!
