| The
German company Kuba was specialized in audio and sound furniture. Record player
consoles, floor consoles, cabinets, radio and tv set consoles were produced. At
first components and sets of other companies (like e.g. Graetz, Loewe Opta, Nordmende,
Saba, Telefunken) were built into the furniture. But after the buying up of the
Continental Rundfunk GmbH (with the trade name Imperial, a company located in
Osterode) , Kuba installed in the furniture their own components and sets. Kuba
produced radio consoles and other equipment also for other companies. Later additional
components like radio sets, portables, tv sets, record players and HiFi-components
were part of the production line. |

Die Firma Kuba war ein Spezialist fuer Tonmoebel. Vitrinen,
Plattenspiel-Schränke, Musiktruhen, Fernseh-Radio-Kombinationen gehörten
zum Angebot. Zuerst wurden Fremd-Baugruppen ( z.B. von Graetz, Loewe Opta, Nordmende,
Saba, Telefunken) in die Moebel eingebaut, aber nach Aufkauf der Osteroder Firma
Continental Rundfunk GmbH mit der Handelsmarke Imperial (hervorgegangen aus Stassfurt)
konnten firmeneigne Baugruppen und Radios in die Moebel eingebaut werden. Aber
auch weitere Produkte der Unterhaltungs-Elektronik wurden auch fuer andere Unternehmen
gebaut. Später kamen noch Radios, Kofferradios, Fernseher, Plattenspieler,
Steuergeräte zur Angebotspalette hinzu. | |

The exhibition and some displays The KUBA
Museum has compiled a highly interesting exhibition about products of the
manufacturer KUBA. In four large rooms you find a large collection. Not only floor
consoles and combinations, but also TV sets, portable radios and radio sets are
exhibited. Enthusiasts of floor consoles of the fifties and sixties will love
it. I explicitly recommend to visit the museum. A small collection
of the display can be viewed beforehand on this page. On the homepage of the museum
you will find the opening hours. I miss, though, precise explanations about the
take over of the company Continental with a production plant in Osterode. A
publication about the company founder Gerhard Kubetscheck (partly very personal)
with some absolutely interesting information to the history of the enterprise
can be acquired in the museum. |
Die Ausstellung und einige Exponate Dem
Kuba-Museum ist es gelungen,
eine hochinteressante Ausstellung ueber Produkte von Kuba zusammenzustellen. In
vier grossen Raeumen ist eine umfangreiche Sammlung ausgestellt. Nicht nur Musiktruhen
und Kombinationen, sondern auch Fernseher und Kofferradios, Radios und mehr ist
zu finden. Freunde von Musiktruhen der Fuenfziger und Sechziger Jahre werden begeistert
sein. Ich empfehle Ihnen ausdrücklich, das Museum aufzusuchen.
Eine kleine Auswahl der Exponate können Sie auf dieser Seite schon mal vorab
betrachten. Informieren Sie sich auf der Museums-Homepage ueber die Oeffnungszeiten.
Mir fehlt allerdings das genauere Eingehen auf die uebernommene Firma Continental
mit der Produktionsstaette in Osterode. Eine (teilweise sehr
ins persönliche gehende) Publikation ueber den Firmen-Gründer Gerhard
Kubetscheck mit einigen durchaus interessanten Informationen zu Firmengeschichte
ist im Museum erhältlich.

1961 The probably most famous radio
- TV floor console made by Kuba. A really futuristic design and today a rarity.
Inside was a 59 cm tv set and the radio chassis 609, a tape recorder by AEG and
a record changer by Telefunken, 8 speakers. The price in 1961 was 2998 DM. |

heute eine Raritaet. Eingebaut war ein 59cm Fernseher FET1423SL, das Rundfunk-Chassis
